🌸 Apple Blossoms in Full Bloom

The route is aptly named Pad door de appelbomen – and indeed, it delivers. Endless rows of apple trees line the path, forming fragrant corridors of white and pink petals. In late April to early May, the air is sweet and buzzing with bees, making it the perfect time for this ride.

🏰 Asperen

Asperen is a small fortified town with a long history. In fact, it was granted city rights in the 14th century. The Linge is one of the Netherlands’ longest rivers that’s not a canal. Quiet and scenic, it snakes through the heart of the Betuwe. Consequently, the path hugs the water for much of the route, offering serene views, little harbors, and the occasional heron or swan drifting by.

From Arkel, the route guides you through postcard-perfect villages like Acquoy, Beesd, and Asperen. Cobblestone streets, historic churches, and windmills provide plenty of excuses to stop and take a photo or enjoy a terrace lunch.

Thanks to just over 100 meters of ascent, this is a leisurely ride, perfect for touring bikes or e-bikes. The route stays mostly flat, allowing you to focus on the scenery rather than the strain.
