Initiating the Journey
Welcome to one of my first blog posts! Writing blog articles is not something I have done very often. And here I am creating my own blog website.
I am convinced that if it’s about something you love the story will write itself. Luckily for me I don’t have to do everything all by myself. Nowadays we have A.I. to assist us but I would not deny myself the experience of writing my own articles.
Before Komoot I was using RouteIQ (formaly known as Route.nl) but it was lacking the possibility to upload photo’s and I was not a big fan of the mobile app user interface so I ended up using Komoot.
The Why
Why I am creating this blog website has a couple of reasons. As much as I love using Komoot for my adventures, it’s just not enough for me. Although it has a better social aspect to it then my previous navigation app RouteIQ.
There are some good alternatives out there which I haven’t tried out yet but I’m afraid they also will not fully fulfill my needs. That’s why I wanted to take matter into my own hands and build something that does.
Creating website’s always had a special place in my heart. Back in the day as in ‘Intel Pentium 4 and Windows 98′ back in the day I started using Microsoft Frontpage and was fascinated by HTML. If you feel nostalgic there is someone who created a Windows 98’ (limited) experience in the browser.
The How
Fascinated by website’s and computers at a young age made me determined to work IT and I still feel this way to this day. As a matter a fact I already had a home lab set up and was hosting some services so equipment wise hosting a website was not a big investment .
We have lift off
You can expect me to share my adventures with you and I will try reverse engineer some I had last year in the next couple of weeks. I’m planning a 5 day bicycle ride trough “De Veluwe” this summer so stay tuned!
